MCP server — connect AI assistants to your 2Fin data

The 2Fin MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT, Meta Muse, Cursor and other assistants 44 tools over your transactions, receipts, bills, budgets, savings goals, trips and tax position, behind OAuth sign-in.

Connect an AI assistant to 2Fin and it can read your finances and make everyday changes for you: save a receipt against the right transaction, record why a lunch was business, set a budget, work out how much a week a savings goal needs, log a drive to a client, or answer "what can I claim?" with a link to the official tax source. Everything runs over your own data, after you sign in and approve what the assistant may do.

How it works

  1. Sign in once. Your assistant opens 2Fin's sign-in page (OAuth 2.1 with PKCE). You approve the access it asked for, or choose Allow read-only access so it can look but not change anything. See Authentication.
  2. The assistant calls tools. There are 44 tools: 23 that only read, 19 that create or update your own records, and 2 sensitive ones (the asset register and tax statements).   3. Changes are confirmed. Assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor get a confirmation step before each change. Meta Muse asks you itself before every change, so there is no second prompt.
  4. Only your data, all of it. Every call is limited to the signed-in account. If you have connected a bank, those transactions are included alongside manual entries, CSV imports and receipts. Account numbers, card numbers and similar identifiers are stripped before anything leaves 2Fin.

The consent screen shows exactly what an assistant asked for and lets you grant read-only access instead.

Retry-safe

If an assistant sends the same new transaction, expense, trip or goal twice within ten minutes, 2Fin returns the existing record and says nothing new was created.

Tax rules come with the tax authority's own page as the citation, never a guess.

Every tool publishes a title and read / write / destructive annotations, and the catalogue is served as JSON for reviewers.

Plans

Most tools work on every plan. Receipt capture needs Pro or higher; lenses (saved views), the asset register and tax statements need Elite+ or Auto+. A tool outside your plan returns a clear message with an upgrade link rather than failing silently. The exact gate per tool is listed in the Connector reference.
