AI Calorie Counter by BodyPal — for Claude
AI Calorie Counter by BodyPal is a free connector for Claude. Describe a meal in any language, or share a photo of it, and Claude shows a nutrition card with calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, sugar and salt for each food and for the whole meal. The numbers come from the BodyPal food database (USDA data and product labels), not from the model's guesses.
How to connect
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and browse the directory.
- Search for BodyPal and select Connect. No account or sign-in is needed.
- In a chat, make sure the connector is turned on in the tools menu, then ask about a meal.
You can also add it manually as a custom connector with this URL:

Example prompts
- "How many calories are in 2 eggs, a slice of avocado toast and a banana?"
- "I had 150 g grilled chicken breast with 200 g rice for lunch. My goal is 2,000 kcal and I've eaten 600 so far today — how much is left?"
- "Search the food database for Greek yogurt 2%."
- Share a photo of your plate and ask: "Count the calories in this meal."
What it can do
- Calculate meal calories (
calculate_meal): takes the foods and amounts — grams, or counts like "2 slices" — and returns calories and macros per food and in total, plus the calories left for the day when you mention your goal. The result is shown as a card. - Search the food database (
search_food): looks up a food and returns the closest matches with their nutrition per 100 g.
Both tools are read-only. The connector cannot see or change anything in your BodyPal app or any other account.
Good to know
- Be specific when you can: "chicken breast" gives a more accurate result than "chicken".
- When you give a count instead of grams, a standard piece weight from the database is used and marked with ≈ on the card.
- Values are estimates for general information, not medical or dietary advice.
Privacy
Only the food names, amounts, language and, if you mention them, your calorie goal are sent to our server. Requests are not stored. See section 4.3 of the BodyPal Privacy Policy.
