What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes. In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours, and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store. In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects. You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the API section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: JavaScript/TypeScript (npm install apify-client) and Python (pip install apify-client).

Legal Notice / Impressum / Imprint Extractor

Paste website URLs, get the company data from each site's legal notice (impressum, imprint, mentions légales): legal name, legal form, address, VAT ID, commercial register number, phone and role mailbox. $0.005 per site with a result, sites with no result are free.

Click Start: the prefilled input (hetzner.com, zalando.de, a1.net) runs as is, takes under a minute and costs at most $0.015.

Real output (local run of this build, 2026-10-25, 22 German, Austrian and French sites, 14 with name and address):

What it does

  1. Opens each site and looks for the imprint link (link text or URL containing impressum, imprint, legal notice, mentions légales, Anbieterkennzeichnung, aviso legal).
  2. If none is found, tries common paths such as /impressum, /imprint, /legal-notice, /mentions-legales.
  3. Reads the page and extracts the fields below. You can also pass the imprint page URL directly.

Output fields

legalName, legalForm (GmbH, AG, UG, GmbH & Co. KG, Ges.m.b.H., SE, SAS, SARL ...), address, vatId (DE, ATU, FR, CHE ...), registerNumber (HRB/HRA with court, Firmenbuch FN, RCS, SIREN), phone, genericEmail, imprintUrl, error.

Privacy by design

Only company-level data is returned. Natural-person names (managing directors, owners) and personal e-mail addresses are never output. genericEmail is returned only for role mailboxes such as info@, kontakt@, office@, service@, contact@. Sole traders without a company form get no legalName.

Pricing

Pay per event: $0.005 per website where company details were extracted. Sites that cannot be reached, have no imprint page or yield no company data are not charged.

Limits

Reads the public HTML of each site; pages rendered only by JavaScript (some large shops) or blocking automated requests return an error and are not charged. Extraction is rule-based: always verify legally relevant data against the original page (imprintUrl is included).
