In a client that supports remote MCP, add this server URL using Streamable HTTP and select no authentication:

Claude: add a custom remote connector using this URL. Availability and organization permissions depend on your Claude account. Follow Claude's connector instructions.

ChatGPT: where developer mode and custom MCP connections are available, add the URL as a remote server with no authentication. Follow OpenAI's connection instructions. Custom connection is separate from public directory approval.

Other MCP clients: choose Streamable HTTP, keep the trailing slash and leave authentication empty. Do not put your student password or an unrelated API key into the connector.

Three public-data tools

search_universities	Up to 20 schools by name, state, major or historical acceptance rate; returns institution IDs and school links.
get_university_details	A school profile with available admissions, majors, costs and outcomes.
get_financial_aid	Historical average net price, income-bracket figures, grant and debt statistics where available.

• Find five colleges in California offering computer science. Include school links and explain what data is missing.
• Look up MIT's historical admissions score ranges and graduation outcomes. Distinguish school statistics from my personal admission chances.
• Compare Berkeley and UCLA's historical net prices and financial-aid data. Explain why those averages may not apply to a nonresident student.

What this connection can access

Only public institutional records. These three tools cannot read student accounts, essays, saved lists, documents or chat history; cannot submit applications; and do not invoke a paid language model. The connector is free and requires no registration. Requests are limited to 60 per minute per client IP, shared with the public REST API. Search returns at most 20 schools.

Sources and important limits

IPEDS and College Scorecard records are historical and coverage varies. Missing figures remain unknown. Admission rates are not individual probabilities. Net-price averages are not aid offers and may not apply to out-of-state or international students. Read data sources and limitations and confirm current details on official college websites.

Troubleshooting and alternatives

A 429 response means the public rate limit was reached; retry after one minute. Use the REST API if your client does not support remote MCP. Existing authorized clients may continue using the legacy SSE endpoint https://admit-coach.com/mcp/sse with their existing key. This public endpoint is a separate connection.
