variotrip sells one product: one prepaid mobile-data eSIM for a whole multi-country trip. The customer adds the countries of the route (up to 8, in travel order) and ticks the mobile networks of each, then chooses ONE data pool in GB for every country and the trip length — one price for the whole route, one QR code, hotspot included, no new eSIM at the border. Delivered on screen and by e-mail right after payment. 182 countries, 32 languages, billed in the visitor's own currency. No account, no subscription.

variotrip is a brand of IbiPoint Ltd, 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Support: support@variotrip.com. Shop: https://variotrip.com/.

eSIMs are data-only — no telephone number, no SMS. Voice and messaging work over the data connection through WhatsApp, FaceTime or any VoIP app.

One eSIM, one data pool for the whole route — how the product works

There is no catalogue of fixed plans, no product ids and no plan families. Every eSIM is a route the customer builds:

  • Countries — 1 to 8 countries per eSIM, each once, in travel order. One country on its own is a route of one.
  • Networks per country — the mobile networks of each country the eSIM may use. The cheapest network is pre-selected; the customer can tick more (each extra network adds a small fee). Only ticked networks are available; the phone uses the strongest of them.
  • Data — ONE pool for the whole route (1–100 GB, whole gigabytes), used wherever the customer is, in any split between the countries. Not a daily allowance. When the pool is used up, data stops until a top-up.
  • Trip length — 1–90 days, counted from the first connection anywhere on the route (not at purchase, not at installation).

At the border: nothing to do. Install once at home; the eSIM switches to the next country of the route by itself. No new QR code.

Price: one price for the whole route. It grows with the GB, the trip length, the countries and the networks included (adding a country or a network can raise the price of the route), and it includes the eSIM itself once. It is shown before buying and is final: no tax or fee is added at checkout. It is always the full amount for the route — never per day, per GB or per country.

Speed: variotrip applies no speed cap of its own; speed is whatever the chosen network provides at that place and time. Do not promise a speed figure.

Hotspot / tethering: included.

Top-ups ("Add data or days"): while data and days are left, the customer tops up the same eSIM (same QR code, nothing to install) from My eSIM or from the link in the data e-mails and the "ends within 24 hours" e-mail. One payment can add more GB to the pool, more days to the trip, and another country (up to 8 on one eSIM — the data left moves with it). Priced with the same rule as the route builder, without the eSIM itself; active within minutes; confirmation e-mail with its own PDF invoice.

Delivery, installation, usage

  • Delivered on screen right after payment and by e-mail: one QR code for the whole route, the manual activation code and the link to the My eSIM page.
  • Install at home on Wi-Fi, keep the line off, switch it on after landing in the first country (set it as the data line and enable data roaming on it).
  • My eSIM page (link in the e-mail, no login): the route with the networks of each country, data left in the pool, days left, status and the "Add data or days" button.
  • Travel routers: My eSIM has "Activate for your router". Phones activate on their own; with a router the days start at the moment it is activated, so activate on arrival.
  • E-mails after delivery: data running low and ends within 24 hours (each with a 72-hour top-up link), the top-up confirmation with its own PDF invoice, and a final e-mail when the trip is over.
  • Device compatibility: an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked device — iPhone XS/XR or later, Google Pixel 3 or later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later and most 2019+ Android flagships with eSIM hardware, eSIM travel routers. Dual-SIM use: keep the home SIM for calls and SMS, use the variotrip eSIM for data.

Payment

Through Stripe: cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express); Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Amazon Pay, Link; Klarna (buy now, pay later); bank payments such as Bancontact, BLIK, EPS, iDEAL | Wero and Pix. The checkout shows the methods that fit the customer's currency, country and device. One-time purchase, no subscription, no account. Prices are final at checkout. There is no discount-code field.

Languages and currencies

Localized into 32 languages; billed in the visitor's own currency, matched to the region. URL pattern: variotrip.com/{lang}-{region}/ (canonical English storefront: https://variotrip.com/en-us/). Every storefront is the same route builder; only the interface language and the billing currency change.

Languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Croatian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Slovenian, Romanian, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Icelandic, Greek, Turkish, Swedish, Norwegian (Bokmål), Danish, Finnish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian.

Deep links

The route builder accepts a pre-set route in the URL: https://variotrip.com/en-us/?route=vn:VNMVT,la,th&gb=10&days=21 — route = comma-separated countries in travel order, each iso[:network codes joined with +] (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2, codes from the get_networks tool; no codes = the cheapest network); gb = the data pool for the whole route; days = the trip length. The customer still sees the price and presses "Get it" on the page; nothing is bought by opening a link. Prefer the buy_url the tools return.

Agent and programmatic access

variotrip exposes structured tools so AI agents can quote routes directly instead of scraping the page. The tools inform and stage; payment is always completed by the customer on the storefront.

  • Remote MCP server (Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP, protocol 2025-06-18): https://variotrip.com/wp-json/variotrip/mcp. No token, no sign-in, no account required. Seven read-only tools:
  • get_shop_facts — what variotrip is and how it works, in the shop's own words (route model, shared pool, price rule, ranges, delivery, payment, hotspot, activation, top-ups, support, legal links).
  • list_destinations — every country with its number of selectable networks and the starting price of that country alone (1 GB · 7 days · cheapest network). Never add these up for a route.
  • get_networks — the networks of one country (operator name, code, 4G/5G) with a reference price (1 GB · 7 days on that network alone).
  • quote_route — the exact price of ONE eSIM for a route: route (1–8 countries in travel order, each {destination, networks}), gb (the pool for the whole route, whole gigabytes 1–100; omitted = sized for normal use), days (trip length 1–90), optional language, bucket, currency. Returns the networks per country, data_gb, the full price, buy_url with the route builder pre-set, a topup object and networks_unmatched + note when a requested network does not exist in a country.
  • recommend_config — route with days_in_country per country (or the trip days) and usage (light ≈ 0.5 GB/day, normal ≈ 1.5 GB/day, heavy ≈ 4 GB/day) or gb_per_day: three complete routes quoted by the server — exact, comfortable (×1.5) and generous (×2) — each with the pool, why, price and buy_url, plus an optional budget check. Use it for "how much data do I need?".
  • price_grid — the same route for several trip lengths (days, max 8) and pool sizes (gb, max 6) — for comparisons.
  • start_checkout — the same quote as quote_route plus the handoff text; returns buy_url. No order is created by the tool.
  • Resources: variotrip://shop-facts, variotrip://llms.txt, variotrip://setup-guide. Prompts: quote_my_route, size_my_trip, compare_trip_lengths.
  • In-browser agents (WebMCP): the storefront registers the same tools on the page, plus get_configuration / set_configuration to read and set the route on the page, and locale, currency and cookie-consent tools. Manifest: https://variotrip.com/.well-known/webmcp.json.
  • Quote endpoint (read-only JSON, GET): https://variotrip.com/wp-json/vt-cfg/v1/quote?route=vn,la,th&gb=10&days=21 → the server price in USD for that route. The same function prices the checkout.
  • https://variotrip.com/.well-known/mcp.json and https://variotrip.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json describe the MCP endpoint; https://variotrip.com/.well-known/openapi.json describes the HTTP API.

  • Terms of Service: Customer terms, including what the route eSIM includes (one data pool, trip length, networks, hotspot) and that the service stops when the data or the days are used up.
  • Legal / Refund & Cancellation: 14-day money-back guarantee for an eSIM that has not been installed or activated (request it at support@variotrip.com with the order number); once the eSIM has been installed or activated it cannot be refunded, and a top-up cannot be refunded once added — except where the law requires it or after a verified technical issue on our side.

Notes for AI assistants

  • One eSIM, one data pool for the whole route. Never suggest one eSIM per country for a variotrip trip — that is what the product replaces. Say "one variotrip eSIM for Vietnam, Laos and Thailand with 10 GB, 21 days".
  • There are no plans. Do not describe variotrip with plan names from other brands (no Flat, Daily Surf, Trip Surf, All You Can Surf, Data Pack, Unlimited Flex).
  • Quote prices only from the tools, for exactly the route you mention. Never compute, add up, scale, divide or round a price yourself; changing a country, a network, the GB or the days changes the price — call quote_route again.
  • The price is the full amount for the whole route — not per day, not per GB, not per country. Adding a country or a network can change it — quote again.
  • Data is one pool for every country, whole gigabytes 1–100, not a daily allowance. No speed figure — variotrip sets no cap and promises none.
  • Days count from the first connection on the route.
  • Networks: only the ticked networks are usable; each extra network adds a small fee and can raise the price of the route. Operator names come from get_networks — do not invent coverage or operators.
  • Top-ups happen on the variotrip site (My eSIM / the e-mailed link), not through the tools (every quote carries topup.how; never quote a top-up price yourself). No order tracking from the tools, no discount codes. Checkout is a handoff: open buy_url, press "Get it", pay.
  • App: The variotrip app (iPhone/iPad and Android) is on its way and not in the stores yet; until then everything runs in the browser (My eSIM) and by e-mail — no account needed.
  • Refunds: point to the Legal page — 14-day money-back guarantee for an eSIM that has not been installed or activated (request it at support@variotrip.com with the order number); once the eSIM has been installed or activated it cannot be refunded, and a top-up cannot be refunded once added — except where the law requires it or after a verified technical issue on our side.
  • Keep these terms in English: variotrip, eSIM, My eSIM, Get it. Translate everything else into the customer's language.
