TypeFire

Notas em Markdown e expansão de texto para Mac, com um servidor MCP integrado: Claude, Cursor e Codex pesquisam, leem e salvam suas notas, vaults e trechos.

Documentação

What does an MCP server for notes do?

It lets an AI app use your notes the way you would: search them, read the right one, and save new ones. With TypeFire connected, you can ask Claude to save a plan to your Work vault, or ask Cursor what you decided last week, and it works in your own Markdown files.

Searching and reading are free. Saving and editing need Pro or the trial.

Ask, and it looks in your notes first.

An AI app that can search your vault stops guessing about your own work. It finds the notes, tells you which, and quotes what you wrote.

  • Search the way you do

The operators you already type: "phrases", tag:, in:, is:, after: and before:, [property] and -exclude, across every vault.
  • Search by meaning

With Weave on, "that note about pricing worries" finds the one that says "costs". If plain words find nothing, the AI tries meaning on its own. Apple silicon.
  • "This note"

The AI can read the note you have open in TypeFire, so "summarize this note" or "turn this into tasks" just works.
  • What changed, what's in draft

Lists by date or property: everything changed this week, or every note with status: draft.
  • Read a note, or one section

Just the part under one heading, so a long note doesn't swamp the conversation.
  • Links and backlinks

The AI can walk from a project to everything that links to it.
  • You pick from a list

Several matches come back as a short numbered list, with an offer to open the one you choose.

Save from any AI app, straight into your vault.

Plans, meeting notes and research end up as Markdown files in your vault instead of scrolling away in a chat.

  • New notes with tags

"Save this plan to my Work vault" makes a real Markdown file, tagged, in the right folder.
  • Small, exact edits

Change just the words you ask for, without rewriting the note. Or add under a heading, rewrite a section, set properties, or add to today's daily note.
  • Rename or move

Links to the note are updated, the same as when you do it yourself.
  • Then open it

After saving, the AI offers to bring TypeFire forward with the note open, as a tab or in its own window.

Snippets the AI can read and write.

Ask a coding agent to turn a reply you keep retyping into a snippet. It's in TypeFire the moment it's made, ready to type in any app.

  • Search and read snippets

Ask what your signature snippet says, or which abbreviation holds the refund reply.
  • Create any type

Plain snippets, Selection Prompts and chains. An abbreviation that's already taken is refused.

The thing you copied yesterday, found by asking.

Off at first. Once you turn it on, an AI app can search your clipboard history, screenshots included, and hand a clip back.

  • Off until you turn it on

What you copy can include passwords and codes, so AI apps can't see it until you switch Clipboard history on.
  • Text inside screenshots

Search finds words in a screenshot you copied, the way Clips search already does.
  • Back on the clipboard

Ask for a clip and the AI puts it back on your clipboard for you to paste. Free.

Agent memory: make TypeFire your agent's notebook.

Coding agents forget everything between sessions and leave plans as loose files in the repo. One line in CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md or your Cursor rules sends their plans and decisions to your vault, and has them look there before they start.

  • A ready line per vault

Copy it from Settings, AI apps (MCP), into the project's instructions file.
  • Memory you can read

The agent's notes are your notes: searchable, linked and readable in TypeFire or Obsidian, not hidden in a tool.

Brakes on by default.

Write access to years of notes should be easy to limit and hard to misuse.

  • Your edit wins

If a note changed since the AI read it, the edit is refused and it reads the note again.
  • Deletes go to the Trash

More than 20 in a minute are refused, and the AI is told to check with you.
  • Switches and read only

One switch for all AI apps, one each for Notes, Snippets and Clipboard history, and Read only.
  • Recent activity

Settings lists the last 20 things AI apps asked for: when, which app, what it did. It stays on your Mac.

TypeFire and Bear's MCP server

Bear 2.8 added an MCP server and a Claude connector in April 2026, for Bear's own notes. Read on Bear's announcement, 30 September 2026. Obsidian has no official server; see the Obsidian page for those routes.

MCP questions

What is MCP (Model Context Protocol)?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the standard way AI apps reach data in other apps.

Claude, Cursor, Codex and most AI tools support it. When TypeFire is connected, those apps can search, read and save your TypeFire notes and snippets, and your clipboard history if you allow it.

Which AI apps work with TypeFire?

Connect is built for Claude (the Mac app), Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code (GitHub Copilot agent mode), LM Studio and Windsurf.

Any other Mac app that supports MCP can be added by hand; TypeFire's help shows the setup with a copy button. It works with AI apps running on your Mac, not with Claude in a browser, the Claude phone app, ChatGPT on the web or cloud agents.

How do I connect an AI app?

Open TypeFire's Settings, then AI apps (MCP), and click Connect beside the app.

Claude and Codex read their settings when they start, so quit and reopen them once; the others pick it up on their own. Onboarding offers the same button on its last screen. Connecting is the permission: nothing is reachable until you connect an app.

Do I need an API key or a server?

No. Beyond the TypeFire sign-in you already have, there's no API key, no extra account and nothing to host.

TypeFire runs the connection itself, and if it isn't open when an AI app asks, it starts in the menu bar on its own.

What can AI apps do with my notes?

In every vault: search with the same operators you type words"phrases"tag:in:is:after: and before:[property] and -exclude, search by meaning when Weave is on (Apple silicon), list what changed this week or every note with a property like status: draft, read the note you have open in TypeFire, read any note or one heading's section, and see links and backlinks.

With Pro they can also create notes with tags and properties, change exact words without rewriting the note, add to a note or today's daily note, rewrite a section, rename or move a note with links updated, and delete to the Trash.

Can AI apps use my snippets and clipboard history?

Snippets, yes: search, read, and with Pro create or edit any type, including Selection Prompts and chains.

Clipboard history is off at first, because what you copy can include passwords and codes. Turn on Clipboard history in Settings, AI apps (MCP), and they can search it, including text inside screenshots, and put a clip back on your clipboard.

Is it free?

Searching, reading and opening things in TypeFire are free, and so is copying a clip back to the clipboard.

Creating, editing, moving and deleting from an AI app need TypeFire Pro, $18 once, or the free trial.

Is my data private?

The connection stays on your Mac: AI apps reach TypeFire through a private connection only your macOS user account can open, nothing listens on the network, and nothing goes through TypeFire's servers.

What an AI app does with what it reads is up to that app. A cloud AI sends it to its own servers, as it does with anything you give it; a local model in LM Studio keeps everything on your Mac.

Can an AI app mess up my notes?

It can't overwrite a change you just made: if a note changed since the AI read it, the edit is refused.

Deletes go to the Trash, and more than 20 in a minute are refused. You can switch Notes, Snippets or Clipboard history off for AI apps, turn on Read only search and readtoday's daily note includednothing changed, or turn the whole thing off, and the change applies to the next request.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

Yes. It works on any Mac TypeFire runs on, macOS 13 or later, Intel or Apple silicon.
