IQ Books by ReconcileIQ

IQ Books is an AI-native UK ledger that does the bookkeeping for you: bank lines arrive coded, receipts file themselves, invoices are allocated and the bank reconciled, and you review and sign off. This server lets Claude run it in conversation: ask for profit, VAT or who owes you, or have it raise invoices and code statements, with every change shown as a plan you approve first. Its CodeIQ coding also posts to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and Pandle. Remote, OAuth sign-in, free demo company to try.

Use ReconcileIQ from Claude or ChatGPT

Connect your ReconcileIQ account to an AI assistant and work on your books from a conversation: ask what the numbers say, make bookkeeping changes that are always previewed before anything is written, and run CodeIQ coding against the accounting platform your client already uses.

IQ Books CodeIQ Bank Reconciler

Before you start

  • A ReconcileIQ account. Signing up is free, and the free tier includes one IQ Books organisation with the whole ledger.
  • Connecting costs nothing. Reading your books and making bookkeeping changes cost nothing either. CodeIQ coding draws credits, four a transaction, and reconciliations draw credits too; the tool that charges says so before it runs.
  • The connector address, which is the same for every assistant:

https://api.reconcileiq.com/mcp

Connect in Claude

Quickest: open ReconcileIQ in Claude's connectors directory and select Connect. To add it by hand instead:

  1. In Claude on the web or desktop, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it ReconcileIQ, paste the address above and add it.
  3. Select Connect. A ReconcileIQ page opens: sign in, choose which organisations the connection may use and what it may do, then allow it.
  4. In a chat, turn the connector on from + > Connectors and ask a question about your books.

Any Claude plan can add a custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan an owner may need to allow custom connectors for the organisation first.

Connect in ChatGPT

Quickest: open the app in ChatGPT's directory, where it is listed as IQ Suite, our previous name for the same connector, and select Connect. To add it by hand with developer mode instead:

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings, then Apps & Connectors, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it ReconcileIQ, paste the address above, choose OAuth as the authentication and create it.
  3. Sign in on the ReconcileIQ page that opens, choose the organisations and permissions, and allow it.
  4. Start a chat, add ReconcileIQ from the tools menu, and ask a question about your books.

The directory route works on any ChatGPT plan that offers apps. The by-hand route needs developer mode, which OpenAI makes available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education accounts. Menu names in ChatGPT change from time to time; the address and the sign-in step do not.

Claude Code and other MCP clients

Any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP can connect. Clients that support OAuth sign in exactly as above. For Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http reconcileiq https://api.reconcileiq.com/mcp

Scripted clients can send an API key in the Authorization header instead. The developer reference covers keys, scopes and the full tool list.

What you are asked to allow

The sign-in page is ours, not the assistant's, and it shows exactly who is asking and for what. You choose the organisations the connection may touch, and each permission separately:

PermissionWhat it allows
ReadSee your customers, suppliers, invoices, bank transactions and reports. Nothing is changed.
ChangeCreate and edit records and post to your ledger, always previewed first and carried out only when you confirm the preview.
SendEmail invoices and statements to your customers and suppliers. Kept separate because a sent email cannot be recalled.
CodeRun CodeIQ over bank transactions against a connected platform and post the result back once you approve it. Uses credits.
ReconcileRun Bank Reconciler reconciliations. Uses credits.

Things to ask

  • What was our profit for the last quarter, and which three costs grew the most?
  • Who owes us money, and which invoices are more than 60 days overdue?
  • Raise an invoice to Meridian Office Supplies for 12 hours of consultancy at £85, with standard rate VAT.
  • Which VAT periods is HMRC expecting a return for, and what are the nine boxes for the open one?
  • Code last month's bank statement for this Xero company and show me anything you were not sure about.

What it will never do

Every change is two steps. The assistant first asks for a plan, which shows what would happen and writes nothing. Only after you have seen the plan and agreed does it carry out that exact plan, once. Some things are not available through the connector at all, by design:

  • Filing a VAT return or any other submission to HMRC. That is a declaration by the taxpayer and is made by a person in the app.
  • Paying anyone, or producing a bank payment file.
  • Closing a financial year.
  • Adding or removing members of an organisation, or changing their roles.

Every call the connector makes is logged against your account, and the assistant can show you that log for any set of books.

Disconnecting

Remove ReconcileIQ from your assistant's connector settings at any time. An unused connection lapses on its own after 60 days, and you can end it straight away from Connected apps in your ReconcileIQ account.

Your data

When you use the connector, the answers to your assistant's requests are sent to the assistant you chose, and that provider handles them under your own agreement with it. Work started from an assistant is handled exactly as the same work done in the app. The privacy policy covers this in full.

Help

Email [email protected] or use the contact page. If a tool call failed, include the time and what you asked, and we can find it in the log.
